Job Description
McMenamins Hotel Oregon is part of McMenamins, a family-owned company deeply rooted in the Pacific Northwest, specifically within Oregon and Washington. Since its inception, McMenamins has been dedicated to crafting its own unique beverages, ranging from handcrafted beer, wine, cider, spirits, to coffee. The company’s identity is strongly tied to its embrace of community, art, history, music, food, drink, and overall fun, making each location not just a business but a hub of cultural and social activity. Their establishments vary widely, from cozy neighborhood pubs to sprawling, historic hotels that serve as landmarks in their respective areas. This sprawling network of venues provides a range of opportunities for both seasonal and long-term employment, underpinned by a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, welcoming individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds.
The position of Assistant-Assistant Manager (AAM) at McMenamins Hotel Oregon is a pivotal role in the daily operations of the pub. Reporting directly to the Pub Manager, the AAM assists in managing all aspects of pub operations to ensure a smooth, enjoyable, and efficient experience for both staff and guests. This role requires flexibility, as the AAM must be prepared to perform hands-on duties in all non-management capacities while also orchestrating shift activities, which include opening and closing the pub, hosting, and ensuring excellent customer service. The AAM is tasked with overseeing service sections, taking and delivering food and beverage orders, cashiering, and managing the point of sale system. They are also responsible for regulating labor, overseeing side work, maintaining cleanliness, and training staff to uphold the company’s high standards of service and hospitality.
The role goes beyond daily operations; the AAM must possess strong problem-solving abilities to address customer or personnel issues swiftly and effectively. Working both indoors and outdoors on a seasonal basis, the position demands physical stamina and the capability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The AAM must be both a team player and self-reliant individual who can manage shift dynamics and promote a positive work environment. This leadership position is instrumental in fostering a workplace atmosphere that values community engagement and respect while ensuring the operational success of the pub. Moreover, the AAM has opportunities for personal and professional growth within McMenamins' broad network of venues, which includes neighborhood pubs, wineries, concert spaces, and hotels, providing diverse experiences and career paths.
