Job Duties
- Greets, registers, suggestively sells hotel rooms, issues room keys, assigns rooms to guests and sets wake up calls efficiently and warmly
- Acts as hotel manager on duty and follows prescribed procedures on communication, emergency protocols, and guest satisfaction
- Enters daily changes and balances accounts including guest ledger, house account, city ledger, and advance deposits
- Resets system for the next business day and ensures night audit procedures are completed accurately and timely
- Enters and prints night audit reports according to guidelines
- Ensures guest safety by adhering to security procedures including fire, tornado protocols, key security, and guest privacy
- Sorts, date stamps, and racks incoming mail, faxes, and messages
- Records and communicates guest special requests and problems to appropriate departments and ensures timely resolution
- Answers inquiries on hotel services, guest registration, local attractions, and provides travel directions
- Checks out guests accurately and communicates departures with housekeeping
- Computes bills, collects payments, makes change, and follows cash handling procedures
- Makes, confirms, and cancels reservations via phone, computer, and written communication
- Manages internal and external phone calls in an articulate and friendly manner
- Posts charges such as room, food, liquor, or telephone to the guest ledger
- Deposits guests valuables in hotel safe or safe deposit box
- Maintains shift logs to ensure proper communication between shifts
- Keeps hotel lobby and front desk organized and clean
- Washes, folds, and stores laundry as required depending on business unit
