Job Description

This job opportunity is for the position of Hotel Manager at Montage International, where you will play a pivotal role in the operational success of a high-end hotel property. The Hotel Manager oversees major departments including Food and Beverage, Rooms, Spa, and Engineering, ensuring that all services align with the brand’s ultra-luxury standards and organizational goals. This leadership role demands exceptional management skills and the ability to implement critical operational plans such as budgets, staffing, and training programs. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the hotel’s profitability, upholding service excellence, and enhancing guest satisfaction.

The role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in managing luxury hotel operations, including a strong background in food and beverage management and understanding cutting-edge industry practices. The Hotel Manager must demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills to foster an environment where staff perform optimally and guests receive unparalleled service. Responsibilities include supervising staff performance, enforcing compliance with cleanliness and operational standards, and engaging actively with guests to promote hotel facilities and resolve any issues promptly.

In addition to operational oversight, the Hotel Manager will be responsible for personnel development by selecting, training, and mentoring leadership teams within the hotel. They must ensure that all employment policies, including compliance with federal, state, and local laws, are adhered to. Financial acumen is critical as the Manager controls payroll, monitors inventory, manages costs, and generates reports that guide profitable decision-making. Regular interaction with the Executive Committee is expected to provide specialist insights and support.

This role is full-time with a competitive base salary range from $182,000 to $200,000 annually, excluding incentive pay such as commissions or gratuities. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 15 years management experience in high end restaurants and/or hotels
  • Minimum 10 years experience as department head or senior leadership in ultra-luxury operation
  • At least 5 years executive food and beverage and multi-unit management experience
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to supervise staff including assigning duties evaluating performance and disciplinary actions
  • Moderate computer proficiency
  • Budgetary analysis skills
  • Ability to speak read write and understand the primary workplace language

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 15 years of management experience of high end restaurants and/or hotels
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a department head or senior leadership position at an ultra-luxury level operation
  • At least five years’ experience in an executive level food and beverage and multi-unit position
  • Ideal candidate will have occupied a similar or higher position for one to two years
  • Must be able to speak read write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Requires good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to supervise subordinate staff including assignment of duties evaluating service and taking disciplinary action when necessary
  • Ability to prepare and analyze data figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer
  • Must possess moderate computer skills
  • Budgetary analysis capabilities required

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the selection training and development of key leadership personnel within the division and its departments
  • Able to exercise personnel action discretion within Montage’s policies
  • Oversee divisional matters as they relate to federal state and local employment and civil rights laws
  • Interact positively with guests promoting hotel facilities and services
  • Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved parties
  • Maintain communication with all departments to ensure guest service needs are met
  • Constantly monitor hotel staff performance in all phases of service and job functions ensuring that all procedures are carried out to department standards
  • Rectify deficiencies with respective personnel
  • Inspect all aspects of the operations supervised ensuring compliance with standards of cleanliness and order
  • Direct respective personnel to rectify deficiencies
  • Maintain profitability of each division to support overall hotel operation
  • Control payroll and equipment costs minimizing loss and misuse
  • Ensure par stock levels are maintained by calculating inventory
  • Evaluate cost effectiveness of all aspects of operation
  • Develop and implement cost saving and profit enhancing measures
  • Provide support of a specialist nature to the Executive Committee
