The role of Hotel Manager at the Dupont Circle Hotel is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing overall hotel operations to ensure the highest standards of service delivery and guest satisfaction. This position demands a strategic and hands-on approach to manage core departments including Rooms Division, Food and Beverage, and Revenue Management. Reporting to senior stakeholders, the Hotel Manager drives operational efficiency through cost control measures, stock monitoring, and assiduous management of budgets while maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.

Hotel Managers contribute significantly to the hotel’s profitability by developing and executing strategies to increase market share, optimizing revenue forecasting, and elevating brand standards in alignment with Forbes, LQA, and the Doyle Collection guidelines. The role involves leading and motivating a diverse team by recruiting, training, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations to cultivate a high-performance culture. Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and a guest-centric mindset are essential, especially when addressing customer complaints and special guest requests with professionalism and hospitality.

Additionally, the Hotel Manager plays a pivotal role in managing supplier relationships, ensuring service quality, and supporting capital improvement projects in collaboration with Property Operations. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years senior management experience in a luxury hotel environment
  • Demonstrated success in rooms division, food and beverage and revenue management
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Proficiency in hotel management software
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Commitment to high-quality service standards

Job Duties

  • Assist with the management of the hotel operation ensuring delivery of exceptional guest service from each department
  • Proactively plan to ensure each department's preparedness based on hotel business awareness
  • Ensure prompt resolution of customer complaints
  • Control costs without compromising standards and service delivery
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety work practices
  • Support the hotel’s core values including patrons, people, product, and profit
  • Develop strategies to increase market share for food, beverage, and rooms
  • Drive operational departments to meet Forbes, LQA and Doyle Collection brand standards
  • Manage staff through interviewing, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
  • Resolve and follow up on guest requests and special requirements
  • Monitor and control labor and other divisional expenses
  • Participate in rehabilitation and capital improvement projects
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers ensuring quality and contract compliance
