The role of the Housekeeper is essential to the hotel's daily operations and overall guest experience. This position is responsible for performing all cleaning functions required to service designated suites and public areas during the shift. Working under the guidance and supervision of the Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Supervisor, the Housekeeper plays a critical role in upholding the hotel's standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction.

As a Housekeeper, you will be tasked with preparing housekeeping carts, handling cleaning agents safely, managing linen and trash removal, and ensuring all assigned guest suites and public spaces are clean, neat, and inviting. The role requires physical capability to perform cleaning duties such as changing bed linens, moving light furniture, and dusting overhead areas. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor at all times, as interaction with guests, management, and other hotel staff is frequent.

Safety is a top priority in this role, and adherence to all safety practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and handling of chemicals, is mandatory. Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with other hotel departments and responding to guest requests promptly and courteously.   • Knowledge of hotel, housekeeping and hotel laundry operations required
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends
  • Long hours sometimes required

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Friendly, cooperative manner and patience in dealing with customers and staff
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English both written and verbally
  • Ability to understand and follow directions, guidelines and work objectives
  • Understanding of the potential hazards and procedures involved in working with commercial cleaning agents and light machinery
  • Use common sense and integrity in ensuring security of guest belongings
  • Effective listening, understanding and clarifying guest and co-worker concerns

Job Duties

  • Receives a list of rooms at the start of shift to identify rooms and public spaces to be cleaned during shift
  • Complete all pre-cleaning duties including guest supplies, cleaning supplies and linen for housekeeping cart set-up
  • Utilize both hands to perform cleaning tasks such as changing bed linens and scrubbing pots
  • Reach overhead to dust and clean tops of equipment and appliances
  • Move light furniture to clean under these items
  • Practice safe use of all cleaning agents
  • Follow all safety practices including wearing personal protective equipment and reading chemical warning labels
