Housekeepers are responsible for freshening rooms by making beds with clean linens, changing towels, cleaning bathrooms thoroughly, and ensuring all guest amenities are replenished per brand and hotel standards. Additional duties include dusting fixtures, cleaning appliances, vacuuming floors, managing waste removal, and reporting maintenance issues promptly. The Housekeeper role extends beyond housekeeping tasks to include embodying the qualities of a 'Baywood Ambassador' — projecting a professional image, warmly greeting guests and coworkers, actively listening and responding to guest inquiries, and contributing positively to a safe and pleasant work environment.
This position typically involves physical labor, including lifting and moving objects, bending, stooping, walking, and standing for extended periods during shifts. Housekeepers must be familiar with using approved cleaning chemicals safely and effectively, interpreting Safety Data Sheets, and complying with all safety procedures. The ideal candidate will have some high school education and, preferably, prior hotel experience, though relevant customer service experience and on-the-job training can be considered. Job Duties
- Makes beds neatly with fresh linen including sheets, duvet, blankets, and pillow cases
- makes rollaway beds, cribs, and sofa beds
- removes dirty linen
- picks up debris/trash from floors
- removes and empties trash in wastebaskets
- cleans mirrors, shelves, closet, in-room safe (if not being used)
- inspects and restocks collateral
- wipes door frames, window sills, walls and baseboards
- arranges furniture properly
- cleans appliances, equipment, furniture, and cupboards
- high-dusts artwork
- if applicable, removes trash, sweeps, dusts any balcony/patio areas
- inspects marketing collateral, replacing expired or damaged items
- cleans and disinfects bathrooms including basin, bathtub, toilet, tile, flooring, and walls using approved cleaning chemicals and rags
- replenishes bathroom supplies/amenities and linen according to brand/hotel standards
- replenishes room supplies (coffee, condiments, mugs, glassware, utensils, cups, stationery, pens) following brand/hotel standards
- cleans mirrors, windows, vent covers, and glass doors
- if applicable, cleans and disinfects kitchen including counters, refrigerators, stove, tile, flooring, and walls
- reports room status timely to appropriate persons/departments
- reports items requiring repair or additional cleaning
- restocks housekeeping cart
- vacuums hallways
- turns in all lost and found articles immediately
- operates light vacuum cleaner under beds, carpet, and in front of hallway door
- additional duties as assigned by management
- consistently models the behavior of a Baywood Ambassador by maintaining a professional image, greeting guests and coworkers warmly, actively listening and responding to guest questions or concerns, seeking assistance to ensure satisfaction, fostering teamwork, monitoring surrounding cleanliness and safety, reporting discrepancies, following safety guidelines, recommending Baywood properties, and striving to 'WOW the guest' with exceptional service.
