The role of the Front Desk Associate at the Nugget is a vital position responsible for managing guest interactions from check-in to check-out while maximizing room revenue and occupancy. This position demands a high level of professionalism, attentiveness, and efficiency as it serves as the first point of contact for guests. The associate ensures a seamless experience by handling early and late arrivals and departures, walk-ins, reservations, and payment processing. They partner closely with housekeeping and other departments to fulfill guest requests and maintain high standards of service. The role also requires managing security by issuing and controlling room keys, maintaining confidentiality, and answering guest inquiries on a wide range of topics, including dining, entertainment, and transportation.

Critical to the role is the knowledge of current rates, promotions, and group bookings, as well as the ability to operate the front desk computer system proficiently. The associate must be familiar with emergency procedures and follow Nugget's policies and regulations to maintain a safe environment for both guests and team members. This position reports directly to the Hotel Front Office Manager and requires excellent communication and teamwork skills. Regular attendance, professionalism, and the ability to work safely under varying environmental conditions are essential.

Job Requirements

  • minimum 18 years of age
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • effectively communicate verbally and in writing using the English language
  • minimum 1 year hotel front desk experience preferred
  • ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time
  • ability to lift and move product up to 50 lbs
  • fine finger manipulation
  • ability to work indoors and outdoors during special events
  • ability to handle variable temperature, lighting, and noise levels
  • regular predictable attendance

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 1 year hotel front desk experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Deliver a seamless and professional experience managing early and late property arrivals/departures and walk-ins and all other tasks associated with guest room check-ins and check-outs
  • partner with Housekeeping and other related departments to meet guest expectations and special requests
  • ensure correct charges and credits are posted, collect payments, handle cash and credit transactions, and demonstrate responsibility in balancing all cash and cash equivalent transactions using property cash handling procedures
  • control and issue keys while promoting security, privacy, and confidentiality of guests
  • answer inquiries from guests regarding restaurants, transportation, entertainment, etc
  • remain aware of all rates, packages, and special promotions
  • stay familiar with all in-house groups
  • be aware of closed out and restricted dates
  • obtain all necessary information when taking room reservations and follow the rate-quoting scenario
  • have knowledge of emergency procedures and assist as needed
  • fully comprehend and be able to operate all relevant aspects of the Front Desk computer system
  • balance and prepare individual paperwork for closing of shift according to hotel standards
  • establish and maintain effective channels of communication with all levels of the Nugget team and guests
  • using the Nugget’s system of recognition, recognize team members who are going above and beyond as appropriate
  • knowledgeable of and consistently follow Nugget policies and procedures as well as appropriate local, state, and federal regulations
  • perform work in a safe manner and always maintain a safe environment for fellow team members and guests alike
  • immediately report unsafe conditions, team member or guest incidents to Security, Management, and the Safety Manager
  • maintain a positive and professional image for the Nugget when performing duties or representing the Nugget and encourages others to do the same
  • regular predictable attendance is required
  • other duties and responsibilities as assigned
