The Food and Beverage Manager reports directly to the Food and Beverage Director and plays a critical role in supporting the daily restaurant operations. This position ensures smooth functioning across all aspects of the business, guaranteeing that financial targets and human resource objectives are met or surpassed. The manager is responsible for maintaining the physical condition of the restaurant while safeguarding the owner's assets through strategic oversight and preventative maintenance measures. A vital part of the job involves supervising front-of-house personnel, ensuring their adherence to company policies and delivering an unparalleled level of service to all guests. The manager is tasked with creating detailed daily production lists and floor charts to guide operations, while consistently monitoring and enforcing attendance and shift compliance.

In addition, the Food and Beverage Manager actively participates in staff training, offering constructive feedback and ongoing support to foster a positive and productive work environment. Recruitment responsibilities include interviewing candidates and collaborating closely with the General Manager to hire qualified personnel as needed. The manager also oversees inventory management including timely product ordering and receipt of food and alcohol deliveries, ensuring all processes meet established standards. With a thorough knowledge of menu items, including preparation methods, ingredient specifications, and portion control, the manager supports kitchen staff in maintaining quality and consistency.

Customer service is a top priority, and the manager leads by example in setting and maintaining guest service standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in restaurant or food and beverage management
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Job Duties

  • Prepares daily production list and floor chart
  • Ensures that all staff complies with assigned shifts and attendance policies
  • Verifies that kitchen staff follows all recipes and portions servings correctly
  • Keeps bar, dining area, office and storage areas clean and organized
  • Ensures all product ordering is done timely and within standard
  • Receives food and alcohol orders using procedures as directed
  • Knowledge of all preparation methods, ingredients, portion size for all menu items offered
  • Sets excellent customer service by following guest service standards
  • Actively participates as a member of the management team
  • Manages and motivates all staffing levels throughout shift
  • Oversees overall labor and food cost to budgetary requirements
