The Miami Beach EDITION is a luxury hotel located in the vibrant area of Miami Beach, Florida. The role available is a Full-Time, Non-Management position within the Engineering and Facilities department of The Miami Beach EDITION. This position is fundamental to maintaining the hotel’s high standards by ensuring that all engineering and maintenance needs are efficiently met. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding promptly and effectively to guest repair requests, communicating professionally with guests to resolve maintenance issues, and performing preventative maintenance tasks on various tools and equipment. The role demands advanced technical skills including the ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics, and proficiency in multiple technical fields such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and general building management.

Further responsibilities include conducting complex repairs on the hotel’s physical property and mechanical systems, troubleshooting a wide range of equipment, and adhering strictly to safety standards, including proper use of Lockout/Tagout systems. The position requires not only technical expertise but also an ability to mentor junior engineers, perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, and maintain detailed communication across shifts. Practical physical demands include moving heavy objects, climbing stairs and ladders, and operating computer systems to access work-related information. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, complemented by a vocational or technical background, and at least two years of experience in hotel engineering or maintenance. Additionally, possessing certifications such as a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification and a valid driver's license is essential.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • vocational or technical background
  • at least 2 years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification
  • must meet applicable state and federal certification and licensing requirements
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to perform physical tasks such as moving objects up to 50 pounds
  • ability to climb stairs, ramps, and ladders
  • ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
  • proficiency in multiple technical categories including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of exterior and interior surface preparation and painting

Job Duties

  • Respond to guest repair requests
  • communicate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance issues
  • perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment including cleaning and lubrication
  • visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
  • maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies
  • troubleshoot and perform repairs on equipment such as pumps, motors, plumbing, and electrical devices
  • follow safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout
  • perform advanced troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • train and mentor other engineers
  • perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities including readings and rounds
