Job Requirements

  • Part-time employment
  • 2nd Class Air Conditioner and Boiler License from The City of New Orleans
  • must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements
  • valid driver's license
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification
  • ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
  • willingness to work on stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders
  • must follow all safety and security policies and procedures
  • ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities
  • commitment to maintaining professional appearance and confidentiality
  • ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • vocational or technical background preferred
  • extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration
  • at least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
  • valid driver's license
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification
  • ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics
  • proficiency in at least three maintenance categories such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management
  • knowledge of safety procedures and standards

Job Duties

  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests
  • communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision
  • perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication
  • visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
  • identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment
  • maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed
  • follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures
  • complete safety training and certifications
  • use Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work
  • perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • safely perform highly complex repairs of physical property, electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration and pool heaters
  • display ability to train and mentor other engineers as necessary
  • perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds
  • move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • adhere to quality expectations and standards
  • develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
  • speak with others using clear and professional language
  • perform other reasonable job duties as requested
