Job Description
The hiring establishment is a prominent hotel located at 7277 E Camelback Rd, Scottsdale, Arizona. This facility is known for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences and a well-maintained environment. The hotel operates within the competitive hospitality industry, emphasizing quality service in addition to superior facility management. It maintains a robust engineering and facilities team tasked with ensuring the property's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems function seamlessly to uphold guest comfort and operational efficiency. The role offered is that of a full-time, non-management engineering position within the hotel's Engineering & Facilities department, which is crucial for maintaining the hotel's infrastructure and supporting both guest satisfaction and internal operational needs. Eligible candidates will be rewarded with a sign-on bonus totaling $500, disbursed as $250 at both 90 and 180 days of employment, further signaling the hotel's incentive to attract qualified maintenance professionals.
This engineering position involves responding promptly to guest repair requests to resolve maintenance issues efficiently, often working independently while maintaining clear communication with guests and colleagues. The engineer will be responsible for preventive maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of tools and equipment. There is an expectation to operate equipment shut-off valves safely and maintain accurate inventory records, replenishing supplies as necessary. Proficiency across multiple maintenance disciplines is required, such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicle maintenance, and general building management. This role demands the practical use of hand and power tools, basic pipe repair skills, and troubleshooting abilities for equipment and systems ranging from pumps and motors to plumbing fixtures and electrical devices.
Additional responsibilities include programming televisions, undertaking minor painting and drywall repairs, replacing light bulbs and air conditioning filters, and adhering strictly to the Lockout/Tagout safety system during maintenance operations. The role requires familiarity with engineering software for preventive maintenance and energy management, mid-level troubleshooting capabilities, as well as the capacity to train entry-level engineers and assume Engineer on Duty duties. The ideal candidate must comply with all safety and corporate policies, manage hazardous materials responsibly, maintain professional appearance and confidentiality, and demonstrate excellent customer service skills by engaging guests courteously and promptly. Physical requirements include the ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds independently, navigate stairs and ladders safely, and perform work involving bending, stooping, and reaching. This position is non-remote and based in Scottsdale, Arizona, providing an opportunity for steady employment within a reputable hotel setting where technical skills, reliability, and guest-focused attitude are valued and rewarded.
