Job Description
The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island is a luxury resort located on the picturesque Amelia Island in Florida. Renowned for its exceptional service, elegant accommodations, and stunning oceanfront views, The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island is a premier destination for guests seeking a refined and memorable experience. The resort offers a blend of classic Southern charm and modern amenities, attracting travelers from around the world who value both comfort and sophistication. As part of The Ritz-Carlton brand, which is globally recognized for its commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction, the Amelia Island location maintains the highest standards across all aspects of its operations, including hospitality, dining, and guest services. With a strong emphasis on creating personalized experiences and fostering a welcoming atmosphere, the resort is also dedicated to sustainability and responsible luxury.
The role of Maintenance Engineer at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island is a critical position within the Engineering & Facilities department. This is a full-time, non-management role based on-site at the resort, designed for individuals who have a strong technical background and are motivated to provide outstanding maintenance services that support the smooth operation and safety of the property. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for responding promptly to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring that all tools, equipment, and systems operate effectively and efficiently. This includes a wide range of tasks such as troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, conducting inspections, carrying out repairs, and maintaining inventory of parts and supplies. A successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency across multiple technical categories, including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
Key responsibilities also include assisting with surface preparation and painting, minor repairs to drywall and wood trim, replacing light bulbs and filters, and adhering strictly to safety protocols like the Lockout/Tagout system. The role requires good communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members, the ability to use engineering-related computer programs for preventive maintenance and energy management, and the capacity to mentor junior engineers. Additionally, the Maintenance Engineer performs Engineer on Duty duties, which involve conducting rounds and monitoring readings to ensure operational standards are met. This role demands physical stamina as it involves lifting, carrying, moving objects, climbing stairs and ladders, and bending or stooping as necessary.
Candidates should have at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent combined with vocational or technical training. Prior experience in hotel engineering or maintenance, including at least two years within a hospitality environment, is preferred to ensure familiarity with the unique demands of this industry. Certification such as Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification is required, along with a valid driver's license. This role does not require previous supervisory experience but offers opportunities to develop leadership skills by training and mentoring other engineers. Working at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island means joining a team dedicated to excellence, safety, and guest satisfaction, with opportunities for professional growth in a prestigious hospitality environment.
