Job Description

The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village, located in the scenic city of Cape Coral, Florida, is a premier hospitality establishment known for its exceptional guest services and luxurious accommodations. As part of the renowned Westin Hotels & Resorts brand, this resort offers a blend of comfort, style, and a welcoming atmosphere for travelers and vacationers seeking memorable experiences. The resort boasts beautiful waterfront views, modern guest rooms, and extensive amenities including multiple dining options, a marina, meeting spaces, and recreational activities. Its commitment to excellence in service ensures that guests receive attentive care and enjoy a relaxing stay.

This particular position at The Westin Cape Coral Resort is a part-time, non-management role within the Engineering and Facilities department, specifically tailored for overnight shifts. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of the resort by addressing repair requests promptly and efficiently. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, and carrying out repairs to ensure that all equipment, tools, and building systems operate smoothly.

The Maintenance Engineer is expected to have a solid foundation in various technical skills including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical repairs, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems, carpentry, finish skills, kitchen equipment maintenance, vehicle upkeep, energy conservation, and general building management. Additionally, the engineer will assist with surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, and ensure cleanliness in work areas after repairs or maintenance activities.

Effective communication skills are essential as the engineer will be interfacing directly with guests to address repairs and service needs, often working with little to no supervision. The position also includes maintaining maintenance inventories, requisitioning parts, and documenting daily activities and issues across shifts using approved communication programs. Candidates must be familiar with the Lockout/Tagout safety system, basic computer usage for engineering-specific software, and be capable of conducting mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.

Additional responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers, performing Engineer on Duty tasks such as readings and rounds, and adhering to company policies on safety, security, and professional conduct. The role requires physical capabilities such as lifting objects up to 50 pounds, working on ladders and ramps, and performing tasks that involve bending, twisting, and stooping. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and meet all applicable state and federal certifications, including Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification.

This position is essential to ensuring that the property remains in excellent condition and that guests experience the highest standards of comfort and safety during their stay. Working overnight shifts in a dynamic team environment at a prestigious resort adds a unique and rewarding dimension to this engineering role.
