The opportunity available is for a Full-Time, Non-Management Maintenance Engineer position at the VEA Newport Beach Marriott Resort and Spa. The role is based on-site at the resort with a fixed hourly wage of $35.65, with an additional $1.00 overnight shift differential and a preference for candidates who possess relevant experience. This Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for responding promptly and efficiently to guest repair requests and maintaining the resort’s infrastructure and equipment. The primary goal of this role is to ensure all mechanical and maintenance issues are addressed with minimal disruption to guest services, enhancing the overall guest experience.
The Maintenance Engineer will perform a variety of duties encompassing preventive maintenance, visual inspections, repair tasks, and communication responsibilities across shifts. The position involves proficiency in multiple engineering and maintenance disciplines including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical work, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems and controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and general building management. Candidates will need to demonstrate strong skills in the safe use of hand and power tools, basic pipe repair such as copper piping and soldering, as well as troubleshooting and repairing hotel mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
In addition to hands-on maintenance work, the role demands the ability to manage inventories, requisition parts, document daily work activities, and adhere to company communication standards. The successful candidate will have a fundamental understanding of Lockout/Tagout safety procedures, energy conservation techniques, and hotel engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance and energy management. The role includes mentoring junior engineers, performing Engineer on Duty duties, and ensuring all work complies with safety and security policies. A high school diploma or GED equivalent, vocational or technical training, and a valid driver’s license are preferred qualifications. Candidates also must possess universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification and meet all applicable state and federal certification requirements.
