The Maintenance Technician position at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island plays a critical role in upholding the operational excellence that guests expect. This full-time, non-management role requires a skilled individual capable of responding promptly to guest repair requests, ensuring that all maintenance issues are resolved efficiently and effectively. The technician will have the autonomy to communicate directly with guests to address their concerns and will perform routine preventive maintenance on various tools and equipment. Responsibilities include inspecting and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as performing general building maintenance tasks such as painting, drywall repair, and carpentry.
In this role, the technician must demonstrate proficiency in multiple technical areas, including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, and general building management. Safety is of paramount importance, with strict adherence to the Lockout/Tagout system and company safety protocols required. The technician will also be expected to maintain accurate maintenance records, manage inventory, and assist in training and mentoring junior staff members. Physical demands of the job include lifting, bending, climbing, and handling equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED equivalent, vocational training, and a valid driver’s license. Additionally, Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification and compliance with state and federal certification and licensing requirements are mandatory. Job Duties
- Respond and attend to guest repair requests
- communicate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision
- perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment including cleaning and lubrication
- visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
- identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and buildings
- maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed
- perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- display proficiency in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and general building management
- use Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work
- assist with surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair
- perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities
- follow all company safety and security policies and procedures
- welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards
- develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members
- perform other reasonable job duties as requested
