The role of Director of Sales (Pre-Opening) at the Denu Hotel & Spa in Phoenix, AZ represents an exciting opportunity within this expanding hospitality group. The Denu Hotel is gearing up for its grand opening and aims to establish itself as a leading venue for both group and transient business in the Phoenix market. The Director of Sales will be instrumental in driving the hotel's commercial success by leading all sales initiatives to maximize group room nights, banquet and catering revenues, and transient business contributions. This leadership position demands a results-oriented individual who can develop a dynamic sales culture, motivate and guide the sales team, and implement innovative strategies that align with property goals and market realities.

The Director of Sales will oversee the sales department's daily operations, ensuring optimal performance and continuous improvement in processes, team capabilities, and customer satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five or more years of related and progressive sales leadership experience in similar organization or property
  • Pre-opening hotel experience desired
  • Working independent property and managing representation groups desired
  • Solid knowledge of hotel service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Ability to lead and coordinate staff in a high volume, time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to mentor and provide training to staff to meet or exceed guest expectations
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective sales processes to attain maximum revenue
  • Strong knowledge of sales techniques with negotiation and closing skills
  • Ability to determine customer needs and present sales options persuasively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to high level of guest satisfaction

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management desired
  • Five or more years of related and progressive sales leadership experience
  • Five years as a supervisor or manager in similar setting desired
  • Pre-opening hotel experience preferred
  • Experience managing independent property and representation groups desirable
  • Solid knowledge of hotel service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
  • Strong sales techniques and negotiation skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective sales processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to high guest satisfaction
  • Ability to create and deliver sales presentations

Job Duties

  • Provide guidance and direction to ensure overall departmental success
  • Manage subordinate sales staff
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Sales Department
  • Interview, hire, and train team members
