The role in focus is a Front Desk Agent position at one of Boyd Gaming’s hotels, a crucial part of the guest experience and overall hotel operations. This position requires an individual who excels in customer service and possesses the ability to manage room sales effectively through yield management strategies. The Front Desk Agent is often the first point of contact for guests and plays an integral role in ensuring a welcoming, professional, and efficient check-in and check-out process. Responsibilities also include resolving customer complaints, answering inquiries related to hotel services, local events, attractions, and directions, and maintaining accurate and detailed records of room transactions. Competence in using various hotel management software systems, such as LMS, CMS, and Hot Sauce/Espresso computer systems, is essential to succeed in this role.

Successful candidates must be capable of standing for extended periods, exhibiting attention to detail, and multitasking in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The job demands flexibility in working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Additionally, the position mandates adherence to all local gaming regulations, including acquiring and maintaining necessary certifications or licenses relevant to gaming operations. The ability to handle monetary transactions reliably, balance transaction records, and perform manual procedures during system outages is critical. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months front desk experience
  • Ability to utilize basic office machines and telephone
  • Minimum typing speed 45 wpm
  • Knowledge of hotel key system
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Money handling experience
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Ability to add, subtract, and audit accounts
  • Ability to operate LMS, CMS, and Hot Sauce/Espresso computer systems
  • Ability to operate electronic draft system
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain necessary certifications and/or licenses as required by local gaming regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to communicate with guests and staff in English
  • Knowledge of hotel key system

  • Ability to add, subtract, and audit accounts
  • Money handling experience and ability to operate electronic draft system
  • Ability to operate LMS, CMS, and Hot Sauce/Espresso computer systems
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any necessary certifications and/or licenses as required by local gaming regulations

Job Duties

  • Sell rooms utilizing excellent customer service skills and yield management
  • Resolve customer complaints and answer guest inquiries regarding hotel services, events, directions, local attractions, etc. in a friendly, professional manner
  • Complete all registration forms and computer input
  • Retrieve and distribute room keys
  • Calculate and print hotel bills, and accept payment for various room charges utilizing standard cash and credit procedures
  • Communicate with Executive Hosts regarding hotel stays
  • Utilize computer to run necessary reports
  • Balance all transactions at the end of shift (audit out)
  • Operate manual procedures in the event of computer failure
  • Other duties as assigned by management
