Job Description

Ascent Hospitality is a prominent hospitality management company known for its extensive portfolio of hotels and a robust pipeline of new properties and acquisitions. While the company has experienced significant growth and expansion, its core focus remains on people rather than on numbers. Ascent Hospitality takes pride in fostering a supportive and collaborative culture that emphasizes memorable experiences for all team members and guests alike. The company consistently seeks individuals who demonstrate strong teamwork, a passion for service, clear communication skills, and the ability to adapt to challenges and change. This people-first approach forms the foundation of Ascent Hospitality's continued success and commitment to excellence within the hospitality industry.

Ascent Hospitality is currently seeking a highly qualified hospitality leader to join their team as a Chief Engineer. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth and efficient hotel operations by overseeing the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of the entire property. The Chief Engineer will supervise a team of maintenance staff and manage ongoing preventative maintenance projects, renovations, and repairs including plumbing, painting, sheetrock, electrical work, and carpentry. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will coordinate with contractors on renovation, remodeling projects, and new construction initiatives. This role also involves overseeing custodial work as needed to maintain optimal guest satisfaction and service standards.

The Chief Engineer must demonstrate strong leadership abilities by recruiting, interviewing, and recommending personnel such as engineers, laborers, painters, and carpenters. Evaluation of job performance, discipline, and recognition of staff members also fall under this role. The position requires compliance with state building codes, OSHA safety codes, and fire department standards to ensure a safe environment for guests and employees. Responsibilities include managing hotel equipment and building systems such as refrigeration, air conditioning, fire alarms, boilers, power systems, and emergency generators. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for maintaining the aesthetics of both the exterior and interior of the building through continuous evaluation and coordination of remodeling projects and refurbishing efforts. This role demands effective budget management, task delegation, and an ability to promptly identify maintenance issues and initiate work orders. Additionally, the Chief Engineer plays a critical role in hotel emergency procedures by assisting in developing emergency plans, conducting drills, training staff, and scheduling regular inspections of safety and emergency equipment.

This leadership role requires advanced knowledge of building management systems and hotel operations technologies, along with extensive experience in electrical systems, boilers, appliances, HVAC, plumbing, and life safety systems. The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical expertise with strong communication and leadership skills to not only maintain operational excellence but also enhance the overall guest experience. By joining Ascent Hospitality as a Chief Engineer, the successful candidate will become part of a team that values innovation, teamwork, and outstanding service delivery, contributing to the continued growth and reputation of a respected hospitality company.
