Job Description
This job opportunity is with a reputable hotel known for its commitment to excellent hospitality and high standards in food service. The hotel operates a breakfast bar and restaurant, catering to guests who expect the highest quality food and service during their stays. Known for maintaining clean, efficient, and welcoming dining environments, the hotel emphasizes the role of culinary professionals in upholding its brand reputation and enhancing guest satisfaction. The establishment values teamwork, communication, and adherence to health and safety standards to create a superb dining experience. The position is a cook role with a focus on breakfast service at the hotel, involving preparation, garnishing, and serving food that meets strict presentation and temperature standards. This is a full-time indoor position that requires manual dexterity and physical stamina.
The cook is responsible for preparing "hot" items specifically for the breakfast bar and restaurant, ensuring all dishes are presented attractively and tastefully. In addition to cooking duties, the role includes maintaining food temperature in warmers and preparing food quantities aligned with the hotel’s occupancy levels to minimize waste while ensuring availability. Proper garnishing and adherence to menu specifications play a critical part in the role, as presentation directly impacts guest perceptions and satisfaction.
Maintaining cleanliness and quality control in storage and coolers aligns with the hotel's strict hygiene protocols to prevent contamination and spoilage. The cook must also contribute to inventory control by requisitioning food supplies with proper approval, demonstrating responsibility towards operational efficiency. Equipment maintenance such as ranges, ovens, fryers, and griddles is essential to ensure they are in good working condition, which supports food quality and safety.
Customer interaction, while primarily focused on food preparation, also involves addressing any immediate service concerns by communicating with hosts or managers to resolve customer dissatisfaction quickly. The cook helps set up the breakfast area and dining room to ensure the restaurant is always presentation-ready, stocked, neat, and orderly prior to and during service.
The work environment demands the ability to stand for extended periods, lift weights up to 30 pounds, and perform physical movements including bending, stretching, and operating kitchen utensils safely. Fluency in English is required for clear communication. The job might require working a flexible schedule, including varied hours and days of the week, tailored to meet the hotel's business needs. The hotel is committed to equitable employment practices, welcoming candidates regardless of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
