Job Description
Elvis Presley Enterprises proudly oversees the management and operation of Graceland, one of the most iconic homes and tourist destinations in the United States. Graceland has been welcoming visitors since 1982 and has since become a symbol of American culture and music history. Known globally as the home of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, Graceland attracts over 500,000 visitors annually from all over the world. It ranks as one of the top five most visited home tours in the nation and holds the distinction of being the most famous home in America after The White House. The historic value of Graceland was recognized early on, as it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991 and later declared a National Historic Landmark in 2006.
Visitors to Graceland come from diverse backgrounds encompassing every age group, musical taste, income level, educational background, and nationality. Every employee of Elvis Presley Enterprises acts as an ambassador to the city of Memphis, ensuring that guests experience the warm southern hospitality famously associated with Elvis Presley himself. This commitment to exceptional guest service has helped maintain Graceland's reputation as an unparalleled cultural and historical destination.
This exciting part-time opportunity is within the Food and Beverage Department at The Guest House at Graceland Hotel. The role features flexible and variable working hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. This position is particularly suited for candidates who are passionate about hospitality and eager to be part of a renowned heritage site while honing their skills in a dynamic, guest-facing environment that involves preparing and serving food and beverages. The role presents promotional potential and welcomes applications both from internal employees and external candidates.
As a Food and Beverage team member at Graceland, you will be working under the supervision of Food and Beverage Supervisors and the Manager. You will operate Point of Sale (POS) systems to process transactions efficiently, assist guests with their orders and inquiries, and prepare both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including mixing cocktails and developing new cocktail recipes. You will also be responsible for verifying the legal drinking age of patrons, handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions accurately, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of your assigned work area throughout your shift.
Your role extends to greeting guests from around the globe with genuine hospitality, addressing their questions and concerns promptly, and escalating any significant issues to management. You will support overall restaurant operations by restocking and replenishing bar inventories, ensuring adherence to health and sanitation standards according to Memphis and Shelby County codes, and performing necessary cleaning tasks such as bussing tables, wiping down surfaces, emptying trash, and cleaning restrooms. Maintaining a safe and efficient work environment is a critical element of this position.
The ideal candidate will have a positive, engaging personality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure while multitasking and maintaining high standards of service. This role requires knowledge of Memphis and Shelby County health codes, possession of a valid ABC license from the State of Tennessee, and previous bartending experience is preferred. If you're interested in a rewarding hospitality career in a legendary setting, this position at Graceland offers a unique chance to serve guests in one of America's most treasured landmarks while advancing your professional growth.
