The role available at the Residence Inn Ankeny is for a Housekeeping Supervisor, a vital position responsible for maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and organization that guests expect. This role is essential in supporting the Executive Housekeeper by supervising daily housekeeping operations and ensuring all guest rooms, public areas, and laundry services meet Marriott and Kinseth Hotel Corporation standards. The Housekeeping Supervisor will play a crucial part in managing the housekeeping team, assisting with staff training, and stepping in during the Executive Housekeeper's absence. This position requires exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering superior guest experiences through impeccable room presentation and prompt response to guest needs. The role mandates working on weekends to ensure continuous smooth operation of housekeeping services. Experience with Marriott housekeeping standards is highly valued, enhancing the ability to uphold the brand’s quality benchmarks.

The Housekeeping Supervisor’s duties encompass overseeing cleanliness, inspecting rooms, coordinating supply needs, and managing room inventory in cooperation with the Front Desk. The position involves ensuring guest satisfaction by addressing any questions, concerns, or issues swiftly and effectively. Additionally, the supervisor supports operational tasks like carpet and furniture maintenance planning and proper storage and security of housekeeping keys. The physical demands of the job include regular standing, walking, lifting, and bending to perform housekeeping tasks efficiently and safely.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Attention to detail
  • Physical ability to perform housekeeping duties including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to train and supervise staff
  • Good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Cleans hotel guestrooms, bathrooms, corridors, lobbies and laundry as needed or assigned
  • Assigns work to housekeeping personnel when the Executive Housekeeper is absent
  • Assists in training and developing personnel in housekeeping duties, safety and KHC policies and procedures
  • Communicates regularly with Front Desk on status of room inventory and updates front desk system as necessary or allowed
  • Ensures guest satisfaction through quick attention to questions, concerns or problems
  • Communicates needs for room supplies, furniture, room renovation or replacements, room maintenance
  • Examines carpets, drapes and furniture for stains, damage, or wear and assists in planning carpet shampooing, mattress turning and spring/fall extensive cleaning
