The Part-Time Hot Prep Cook role at Orlando Health - Skilled Nursing offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about food service in a healthcare setting to contribute meaningfully to patient nutrition and satisfaction. This position involves preparing and cooking food according to federal, state, and local standards as well as adhering to the organization's established policies and procedures. The Hot Prep Cook plays a crucial role in ensuring that meals are prepared accurately and safely in alignment with dietary requirements, menus, and production plans. Attention to detail is essential as the role includes calculating recipes based on daily resident census, preparing patient trays, cafeteria serving lines, mobile serving lines, and supporting early and late tray preparation. Additionally, the cook is responsible for maintaining strict compliance with the most current Food Code, infection control procedures, and HAACP guidelines, ensuring food safety and quality are never compromised. Furthermore, the position supports special functions by preparing food and contributes to a positive work environment by fostering strong relationships with dietary team members and other departments. Effective communication skills are paramount to promptly addressing concerns and providing recommendations to Food and Nutrition Leadership. - Must be able to speak, comprehend, read and write the english language
- one year of experience as a cook in a full service restaurant or institutional setting, or the equivalent in training

Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks food according to policy standards
- reviews and follows menus, production sheets, and spread sheets prior to preparation of food
- calculates recipes, adjusting to that day’s resident census
- prepares patient tray line, cafeteria serving line, mobile serving line, and assists in the making of early/late trays
- prepares food for special functions
- demonstrates a working knowledge of the most current Food Code, infection control procedures and HAACP guidelines
- inspects all diet trays to assure that the correct diet and texture ordered is served to the resident
