Job Description

Orlando Health is a comprehensive health care organization based in Orlando, Florida, known for its commitment to delivering outstanding patient care services. As a leading health system, Orlando Health offers a wide range of medical services across numerous specialties, supported by a dedicated team focused on improving health and quality of life in the communities it serves. The organization embraces innovation, compassion, and excellence, making it one of the preferred employers in the health care sector. Known for its state-of-the-art medical facilities and highly skilled staff, Orlando Health also places a significant emphasis on nutrition and dietary services, recognizing the critical role food plays in patient recovery and well-being. Beyond patient care, the organization also supports non-patient food services, contributing to a holistic healthcare environment.

This position is a Hot Food Cook role within Orlando Health's Food and Nutrition Services department. The role centers on preparing all hot food items according to specific production plans and recipes as assigned by the Executive Chef, Food and Nutrition Supervisor, or Production Leader. It involves serving both patient and non-patient food services, ensuring each dish adheres to the highest standards for taste, presentation, and nutritional compliance. The Hot Food Cook plays a vital role in supporting the overall kitchen operations including tray assembly, special diet preparations such as pureed meals, supplements, or other customized dietary needs. A key responsibility of this position is to maintain strict compliance with sanitation standards and infection control procedures, incorporating Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HAACP) guidelines to ensure food safety and quality.

The successful candidate is expected to be versatile and cooperative, willing to assist in various kitchen functions beyond hot food preparation. This includes helping with cold prep, bakery, storage, café serving line, dishroom, or tray line whenever necessary. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential, consistent with Orlando Health policies and federal guidelines such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The role demands a proactive communicator who conveys vital information regarding patient and non-patient needs to supervisors and team members effectively. Overall, this job offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care through food service excellence within a reputable health care system.
