The position offered is a part-time Food Server role within the Hot Foods Department, tailored for morning shifts. This role is especially suited for individuals passionate about food service and customer interaction in a grocery store setting. As a Food Server at Sedano’s, you will be responsible for attending to customers' requests for prepared food items, which are sold by the pound or individual portions. Your role is vital in ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety, and supporting the overall operational flow within the department.
Daily responsibilities include properly handling, displaying, and dispensing a variety of hot food products, accurately weighing and measuring portions, and efficiently processing payments. The role requires strict adherence to all safety protocols, such as the use of gloves and hair nets, handling hot food trays with care, and promptly addressing hazardous situations in the store to ensure everyone’s safety. Additionally, you will be engaged in replenishing food displays, maintaining sanitary work areas by cleaning counters and floors, and helping in related areas like the cafeteria or bakery when needed.
Candidates will need to have or be willing to obtain a current food safety training certificate, with renewal required every three years. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with prior food service experience. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are valued in our diverse community setting to better assist our customers and team. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 40 pounds, and other movements consistent with a dynamic food service environment.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree preferred
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Previous food service experience
- Current food safety training certificate required with renewal every three years
- Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to use department equipment properly
- Adequate knife handling skills
- Ability to work scheduled hours including holidays and weekends
- Ability to maintain punctuality and good attendance
- Ability to handle lifting up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to maintain sanitary work conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Promptly attend to customers’ requests for department food products
- Properly handle, display and dispense food
- Weigh and/or measure proper portions of food in appropriate container(s)
- Accurately process and accept payment for goods sold in the department
- Ensure all standards of cleanliness are maintained, including the use of gloves and hair net
- Ensure safety measures are taken when handling or carrying hot trays of food
- Maintain awareness of floor conditions to ensure safety
- Restock displays of food as needed from back room, kitchen and cooler
- Restock containers, bags, utensils, etc., as needed
- Sweep and/or mop floor as needed
- Wipe countertops, cooking areas and display cases as needed
- Maintain sanitary work area and keep food safe from contamination
- Follow department procedures with health, safety and sanitation codes
- Report all accidents promptly according to company procedures
- Attend and participate in departmental and store meetings
- Maintain punctuality and good attendance
- Perform other work-related duties as required
