Job Description
Parry's Pizzeria & Taphouse is known for creating memorable dining experiences distinguished by their Craveably Crafted Food & Beer and Uncommon Hospitality. As a high-energy, guest-driven establishment, Parry's focuses on delivering exceptional service by fostering a sense of teamwork among its staff. The restaurant prides itself on an atmosphere where guests feel welcomed, informed, and excited, emphasizing the importance of authentic connections and superior service from the moment guests arrive. The leadership at Parry's embraces a culture where every team member, including Hosts, contributes meaningfully to the success of the restaurant and overall guest satisfaction.
The role of a Host at Parry's Pizzeria & Taphouse is multifaceted and essential to the restaurant's smooth daily operations. Hosts serve as the first point of contact for guests, managing the door, waitlist, and setting the tone for the dining experience. This position demands a high level of awareness, strong communication skills, and intentional guest engagement. It requires attentiveness to the dynamics on the dining floor, such as table turns, dining room flow, and guest needs. Hosts apply the restaurant's CHEERS philosophy consistently, which involves Cheerful Prompt Greet, Hospitality First, Engage Guests, Ease Their Needs, Ready for ’Em, and Swipe That Card – Say Goodbye. These principles help Hosts create a warm, positive environment that encourages guests to return.
Beyond greeting and seating guests, the Host role involves supporting the broader dining room operation by pre-bussing tables, resetting seating areas, and stepping in wherever assistance is required. Hosts build rapport with guests by asking thoughtful, open-ended questions, helping to identify first-time visitors or regulars, and sharing important guest information with servers to enhance personalized service. Additionally, they contribute to the smooth communication flow between the front of house and the Service Managers, ensuring wait times and table status are monitored and managed effectively. Hosts also promote the Parry's loyalty program and assist with phone calls, to-go orders, and crowd management during peak hours.
This position offers dynamic responsibilities and valuable experiences that hone interpersonal and operational skills. The ability to maintain a professional yet energetic and guest-focused demeanor, adapt to fast-paced environments, and sustain a clean, organized entryway and dining room are crucial. Parry's hosting staff is not only about managing seating but significantly influences the restaurant’s overall ambiance and guest satisfaction, making it a career-enhancing opportunity in the hospitality industry.
