Job Description

The Lenox Hotel, established in 1900, is a cherished landmark located in Boston's vibrant Back Bay neighborhood. Known for its unique character, rich history, and independent spirit, The Lenox has become a beacon of genuine hospitality and creative excellence in the hospitality sector. Each guest experience is crafted with thoughtful attention and a personal touch, making the hotel not just a place to stay, but a home away from home for many travelers visiting Boston. The Lenox prides itself on fostering a warm, welcoming environment where both guests and staff thrive in a culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and memorable service.

The Lenox is currently seeking a part-time Host for Sweeney’s on Boylston, a lively and spirited Irish-inspired restaurant that forms one of three distinct outlets within the hotel. This position plays a vital role in setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience and calls for someone who brings energy, curiosity, and a genuine love for food, drink, and engaging conversation. The part-time Host is integral in managing guest flow, handling reservations, and creating a warm, inviting first impression that makes every guest feel welcomed.

This role is more than just greeting and seating guests; it encompasses maintaining a seamless flow of service among Sweeney’s on Boylston, The Irving at The Lenox—an intimate cocktail bar celebrated for its turn-of-the-century charm and expertly crafted drinks—and Willow & Ivy, a refined New England-inspired American cuisine venue led by Executive Chef Daniel Kenney. The Host supports the overall hospitality team by managing essential front-of-house operations, assisting with table management, and upholding the hotel’s standards for polished and professional service.

This position demands flexibility as it requires availability on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with Friday and Saturday shifts being especially important. Candidates who thrive in high-energy environments and enjoy meaningful interactions with a diverse clientele will find this role rewarding. Knowledge or familiarity with POS systems like Toast is advantageous, supporting efficient management of reservations and guest communication.

With a salary range of $20 to $22 per hour depending on experience, full-time employees at The Lenox enjoy access to affordable medical and dental benefits, a 401(k) plan with a generous employer match, vacation and paid holiday time, complimentary meals during shifts, and other perks such as discounted parking. For part-time hosts, while traditional benefits may vary, the role still offers a dynamic work environment amid a historic and celebrated Boston institution.

Joining The Lenox as a part-time Host means becoming part of a legacy of hospitality excellence where authentic guest experiences are crafted every day. If you are passionate about hospitality, eager to be a pillar in team collaboration, and enthusiastic about creating welcoming atmospheres that guests remember, this opportunity is an excellent fit.
