The role of Host/Hostess at Levy is integral to creating memorable dining experiences for guests. This position involves welcoming and seating guests in a timely and courteous manner, ensuring that their seating preferences are respected to enhance their overall experience. The Host/Hostess is often the first point of contact for guests, setting the tone for the quality of service throughout their visit. Beyond seating responsibilities, the position requires handling customer service scenarios with professionalism and sensitivity, maintaining clear and effective communication with guests and team members alike. The Host/Hostess also plays a supervisory role within the dining room, overseeing food-service associates to ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards. Assisting in training new team members and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the dining environment are also key components of the job. Additionally, the Host/Hostess may be required to assist with bussing, food service, and operate various dining equipment. This role demands excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, a genuine interest in people, and the ability to remain patient and composed in a dynamic setting. Job Duties
- Promptly and warmly greet and direct guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements
- help create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promote a safe, clean and neat environment for guests and other associates
- exhibit exceptional communications skills
- get along well with others, demonstrate flexibility and patience
- maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information that is shared
- supervise the activities of food-service associates in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling and sanitation procedures are followed
- help train new food-service team members
- supervise the closing of the assigned dining room
- ensure side work and station setup is properly completed
- demonstrate knowledge of emergency safety procedures and help evacuate guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency
- assist with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
- may be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines
- work with staff of other departments to perform job duties and during special events or functions
- perform other duties as assigned
