The Host/Hostess position at Texas Health Denton is a critical role within the hospital's food and nutrition services team, contributing directly to patient satisfaction and care. This PRN (as needed) role involves working rotating shifts to provide fast, courteous, and efficient service to patients by ensuring timely delivery and pickup of meals in a high-volume setting that serves approximately 120 meals daily. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum six months experience in food service or customer service
  • Food Handlers Certificate required within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to comply with hygiene and PPE standards
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to work rotating PRN shifts
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment maintaining professionalism and quality
  • Ability to perform duties as assigned by supervisors

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Six months experience in a food service or applicable customer service role
  • One year of food service experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days
  • Ability to read basic math and written English
  • Cooperative discreet and courteous in handling customers
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Positive customer service attributes
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus and quality service

Job Duties

  • Serve patient meals assisting with set up and prepare snacks accurately and timely according to procedures
  • Return to patient rooms promptly to pick up dirty trays and confirm patient satisfaction
  • Comply with hand hygiene patient identification and personal protective equipment requirements
  • Utilize basic diet therapy training to assist patients in selecting correct menu items
  • Maintain food safety requirements according to HACCP and department standards in all duties
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas ensuring compliance with health department and facility standards
  • Monitor prepare and deliver floor stock to designated units following FIFO principles and check for expired or prohibited items
  • Check and log refrigerator and freezer temperatures on nursing units
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills at point of service and in resolving complaints concerns and questions
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
