We are currently seeking part-time Host/Hostess team members to join our dedicated staff at Bethesda Senior Living Communities. This role is integral in fostering a welcoming and enjoyable dining environment for our residents and their guests. The shift covers 3 pm to 7 pm on weekdays and every other weekend, ideal for individuals seeking flexible part-time employment. As a Host/Hostess, you will be responsible for managing meal service coordination, assisting with staff training, and ensuring smooth dining operations. You play a vital role in maintaining the ambiance of the dining room, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting Health Services staff by assigning tables and overseeing timely service. This role requires a compassionate and personable individual who enjoys working with the elderly and can handle the physical and interpersonal demands of the position. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with food production and service, sanitation, and safety
- Ability to work part-time shifts from 3 pm to 7 pm weekdays and every other weekend
- Capability to handle moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to lift residents with assistance when necessary
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to maintain professional appearance and demeanor
- Adherence to community policies and confidentiality standards
- Flexibility to attend meetings and training as required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with food production and service, sanitation, and safety
- Previous supervisory experience is a plus
- Excellent organizational, motivational and leadership skills

Job Duties
- Ensures adequate daily coverage provided by the Health Services staff and other assigned staff for meal service by communicating with the Culinary Services Director, Health Services Director and Executive Director
- Assists Culinary Services Director with training that encourages team performance within the Health Services Department
- Attends staff meetings as required by Culinary Services Director and/or Executive Director
- Ensures resident, family and guest feedback is directed to the community leadership
- Ensures that all server pre-service and post-service work is successfully completed by delegating to assigned Health Service staff
- Assigns sections and tables to Health Services staff to ensure timely service
- Oversees cleaning and preparation of the dining room and tables ensuring restaurant style appearance
- Resets tables, linens and ensures condiments are available
- Ensures drink station and/or salad bar are set according to procedures
- Takes meal orders and ensures staff take orders using excellent customer service skills
- Ensures drinks are filled and kept filled as requested
- Serves and oversees service to meet residents and guest choices
- Manages guest reservations and ensures Private Dining Room is prepared
- Ensures cleaning checklists and responsibilities are completed per policies
- Sets up and delivers room trays as needed
- Maintains confidentiality of resident personal information
- Maintains professional appearance and positive demeanor
- Practices honesty and integrity in all performance aspects
- Performs other duties as assigned
