Job Description
Gulf Coast Restaurant Group (GCRG) is a prominent company operating in the hospitality sector, specifically managing a diverse portfolio of restaurants and bars. Renowned for its commitment to quality service and excellent customer experiences, GCRG has cultivated a dynamic and inclusive work environment. The company prides itself on its dedication to equal employment opportunities and fostering a workplace free of discrimination and harassment. GCRG's venues are known for their vibrant atmosphere, offering both casual and upscale dining experiences that cater to a wide demographic of guests. As part of its team, employees are expected to uphold the company’s values of professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional guest service.
This position is for a Host/Hostess role within one of the restaurants under the Gulf Coast Restaurant Group umbrella. This role is crucial in setting the tone for guest interactions from the moment they enter the establishment. As the first point of contact, the host or hostess is responsible for greeting guests warmly and ensuring they are promptly and courteously seated. The role demands a friendly and professional demeanor with the ability to manage guest flow efficiently. The host/hostess presents clean menus, operates the waiting list, manages the floor plan board, and is attentive to table status covering clean, occupied, and dirty tables. They also provide accurate wait time information when necessary, enhancing the guest experience through effective communication.
The position entails multi-tasking in a busy restaurant and bar environment characterized by occasional loud noise levels and drafty conditions near entrance doors. Key physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift, with the ability to lift items up to 30 pounds. The role frequently involves cleaning and organizing the host area, restocking menus, phone handling, transferring to-go orders, maintaining restrooms, and ensuring the foyer and entrance areas are tidy.
This is a demanding role that requires excellent organizational skills, stress management, and clear communication proficiency. A successful host/hostess will have strong customer focus and the ability to remain composed and efficient during busy periods. While no supervisory responsibilities are associated with this role, it requires professionalism and maintaining exceptional hygiene and grooming standards. The role typically involves long hours including frequent weekend shifts, emphasizing the need for flexibility and dedication.
GCRG encourages candidates with no prior experience to apply, as training may be provided. However, preference is given to candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent and prior experience in restaurant service environments. This entry-level opportunity is well-suited for individuals passionate about hospitality and those seeking to develop their careers in the restaurant industry. The company’s inclusive employment policy ensures equal opportunity for all, fostering a supportive and welcoming workplace culture.
