The Host/Hostess position at the IAH United Polaris Lounge in Houston, Texas, is a full-time role with a schedule from either 9:00 am to 5:30 pm or 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. This role plays a critical part in shaping the guest experience by warmly greeting and seating guests, managing seating arrangements, and maintaining an inviting atmosphere in a high-profile airport lounge setting. The Host/Hostess is integral in enhancing customer satisfaction and ensuring a smooth dining flow while promoting safety and sanitation standards. Applicants with ServSafe, Food Handler, and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission certifications are preferred, reflecting the position's emphasis on food safety and regulatory compliance.

Job Requirements
- Must have ServSafe, Food Handler, and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission certificates preferred
- ability to communicate effectively
- must be able to work full time 9:00 am to 5:30 pm or 11:00 am to 7:30 pm
- prior experience in food service or hospitality preferred
- ability to maintain confidentiality regarding guest information
- must be able to stand for extended periods
- willingness to assist with bussing and food service tasks as needed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ServSafe, Food Handler, and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission certificates preferred
- previous experience in hospitality or food service preferred

Job Duties
- Promptly and warmly greet and direct guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements
- help create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promote a safe, clean and neat environment for guests and other associates
- exhibit exceptional communication skills

- maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information that is shared
- supervise the activities of food-service associates in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling and sanitation procedures are followed
- help train new food-service team members
- supervise the closing of the assigned dining room
- ensure side work and station setup is properly completed
- demonstrate knowledge of emergency safety procedures and help evacuate guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency
- assist with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
- may be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines
- work with staff of other departments to perform job duties and during special events or functions
- perform other duties as assigned
