Gulf Coast Restaurant Group (GCRG) is a renowned dining establishment recognized for its commitment to creating exceptional guest experiences and providing high-quality culinary services. With a focus on fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, GCRG operates various restaurants and bars that embrace diversity and aim to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction. As a prominent player within the hospitality industry, GCRG adheres to the highest standards of service and hospitality, ensuring that each location maintains an inviting environment for guests and employees alike. The company champions equal employment opportunities, promoting a workplace free from discrimination and harassment while supporting career growth and employee well-being. GCRG's commitment to excellence in both food quality and guest engagement positions it as a preferred employer and dining destination in its regions of operation.
The role of Host/Hostess at Gulf Coast Restaurant Group is pivotal in shaping the guests' first and last impressions of the restaurant. This position primarily involves greeting guests at the door with a friendly and professional demeanor, seating them efficiently, and presenting clean menus to enhance their dining experience. A successful Host/Hostess ensures guests feel welcomed, appreciated, and well-informed from the moment they enter the establishment until they leave. The Host/Hostess is also responsible for managing the waitlist during busy times, accurately quoting wait times to guests, and maintaining an organized seating arrangement through the floor plan board. Beyond greeting duties, this role encompasses answering phone calls, addressing guest inquiries regarding the menu and restaurant services, and assisting with to-go orders when applicable.
In this fast-paced environment, the Host/Hostess's organizational skills and communication proficiency are essential to effectively multitask and remain composed under pressure. The position requires keen observation skills to monitor tables, ensuring timely clearing and resetting for new guests, maintaining cleanliness and stock of menus, and preserving the tidiness of common areas including restrooms and the foyer. The physical demands of the job include standing, walking, reaching, and bending throughout the shift with the ability to lift items up to 30 pounds. Working at the front entrance may expose the host to drafts and elevated noise levels typical of restaurant and bar environments.
This role demands exceptional professional communication skills, a polished appearance, and a genuine passion for customer service. While prior experience in a restaurant setting and a high school diploma or equivalent are preferred, they are not mandatory. The Host/Hostess role at Gulf Coast Restaurant Group offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to develop their hospitality skills, embrace a dynamic work environment, and contribute to creating memorable dining experiences for guests. The position typically requires working long hours including frequent weekends, reflecting the operational needs of the restaurant industry. However, it does not involve travel and presents an excellent entry point for candidates enthusiastic about customer interaction and hospitality careers.
