Job Description
Denny's is a well-established, full-service restaurant chain known for its welcoming environment and a diverse menu that caters to a wide range of guests. With locations across the country, Denny's has built a reputation for providing reliable, family-friendly dining experiences around the clock. The brand prides itself on delivering excellent guest service, maintaining a clean and efficient dining environment, and fostering a collaborative workplace culture. The team at Denny's is committed to creating enjoyable experiences for every guest who walks through their doors, and this commitment is reflected in their comprehensive training programs and supportive management style.
The Host/Hostess position at Denny's plays a critical role in the front-of-house operations, serving as the first point of contact for guests and shaping their initial impression of the restaurant. This role involves greeting guests promptly and courteously, managing wait lists, assigning tables effectively, and supporting servers and management to ensure smooth and efficient service flow. The ideal candidate will embody the core values of Denny's by providing friendly, organized, and efficient service in alignment with the company’s brand standards. This is an entry-level position suited for individuals who enjoy interacting with guests and working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Compensation for this role ranges from $16.30 to $26.30 per hour, depending on factors such as restaurant location, experience, and hours worked. As a Denny's Host/Hostess, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of host stands and waiting areas, assisting with table clearing and resetting, and performing minor cleaning duties to support the overall restaurant operations. Additionally, collaboration with servers, cooks, and management is essential to uphold a professional atmosphere and to respond quickly to guest needs or service demands during peak times.
Physically, this position requires standing and walking for extended periods, as well as occasionally lifting or carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds. The work environment includes exposure to noise, crowds, and varying conditions such as wet floors or cleaning chemicals. Shift schedules are variable and may include nights, weekends, and holidays, tailored to meet the restaurant’s business needs.
Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility in scheduling, and the ability to manage multiple guest interactions simultaneously while maintaining a calm and attentive demeanor. Previous experience in customer service or hospitality is preferred but not required, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to begin or advance their career in the restaurant industry. Denny’s values diversity, inclusion, and reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
