The role of a Host at Apple Gold Group within the Applebee's restaurant is pivotal to ensuring an exceptional first and last impression of the dining experience. The Host is primarily responsible for greeting and welcoming guests with a warm and friendly demeanor, seating guests promptly according to the restaurant’s brand standards, and thanking them upon departure. This position is customer-service oriented and requires individuals who enjoy interacting with guests and contributing to a positive dining environment.
In this role, the Host manages guest flow to optimize seating and minimize wait times, ensuring seating service is fairly rotated among server sections to maintain fairness and efficiency. They may assist by opening doors for guests, maintaining visibility and approachability within the front-of-house area, and sometimes delivering food and beverages when extra help is needed. The Host also participates in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining area, including assisting with clearing tables, resetting them using the Applebee’s team delivery method, and supporting general front-of-house maintenance such as restroom upkeep, dusting, and trash removal.
This position requires familiarity with various equipment including tabletop electronic devices used for seating and order management, phone systems, soda fountain operation, and cleaning tools. While no supervisory responsibilities are assigned to this role, the Host acts as a key point of contact for guests and must uphold the company’s communication and professional behavior standards.
Candidates for this role should demonstrate a friendly and engaging personality, be at least 16 years old, and possess reliable transportation. Prior experience in customer service or hospitality is preferred but not mandatory. The Host should have strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills, with bilingual abilities considered an asset. They must be physically capable of standing for extended periods, moving quickly in a fast-paced environment, and performing tasks that involve reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying items frequently.
Working conditions may involve exposure to wet floors, loud noises, and outdoor elements. The Host must be able to follow instructions from management, work effectively as part of a team, and handle guest interactions with professionalism and respect. Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years old or older
- Reliable transportation required
- Ability to stand and walk for up to four hours in fast-paced environment
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and frequently lift items weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to communicate clearly and listen attentively
- Prior work experience preferred
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks
- Ability to perform cleaning duties and maintain work area
- Ability to manage guest waitlists when required
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Greets and seats all guests in a friendly manner
- Assists in maintaining the overall guest flow of the restaurant
- Ensures seating service is rotated among server area assignments
- Opens doors for arriving and departing guests
- Remains visible in the front of house and faces the main entrance to welcome guests
- Occasionally delivers food and drinks to guests when extra assistance is needed
- Interacts verbally with all guests creating a friendly and upbeat atmosphere
- Completes assigned opening and closing side work
- Participates in clearing and resetting dining room tables using Applebee's team delivery method
- Observes guests, responds to requests, and anticipates guests’ needs
- Maintains a clean and organized work area
- Explains and demonstrates usage of Tabletop Electronic Devices to guests
- Drives sales with suggestive selling
- Accommodates special needs such as booster chairs and high chairs
- Manages the waitlist during busy times
- Assists in Carside To-Go or Server roles occasionally
- Performs general front of house maintenance including restroom cleaning, dusting, washing windows, emptying trash, rolling silverware, and maintaining curb appeal
