Job Description
Gulf Coast Restaurant Group (GCRG) is a well-established hospitality company known for providing exceptional dining experiences across multiple locations. Specializing in full-service restaurants and bars, GCRG prides itself on offering high-quality cuisine paired with outstanding customer service. With a focus on creating welcoming atmospheres and memorable moments for guests, the company continues to grow within the competitive restaurant industry, fostering a culture that values respect, inclusivity, and professional development. GCRG is committed to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for both guests and employees while delivering top-tier hospitality in every interaction.
The Host/Hostess role at Gulf Coast Restaurant Group is a pivotal position designed to create the first and lasting impression for restaurant patrons. This front-of-house team member is responsible for warmly greeting guests, managing seating arrangements, and ensuring that visitors receive menus promptly and professionally. The position demands a friendly demeanor combined with efficient, organized multitasking to handle high traffic, manage waitlists, and assist guests with inquiries regarding the menu or restaurant policies. Since this role involves frequent interaction with customers, excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach are essential to exceed guest expectations consistently.
In this role, the Host/Hostess operates within a dynamic restaurant and bar environment known for its vibrant, sometimes fast-paced atmosphere. The workstation is located near the entrance, which may expose the employee to variable ambient conditions such as drafts and noise. Physical demands include standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting of items up to 30 pounds during the shift, requiring stamina and physical readiness. Candidates should maintain impeccable hygiene and grooming standards, reflecting the professional image of the group. This part-time to full-time position often involves long hours, especially on weekends, highlighting the importance of flexibility and commitment. Additionally, the Host/Hostess will utilize computer software for reservation and point-of-sale management, reinforcing the need for basic technical proficiency.
Beyond primary responsibilities of greeting and seating guests, the role requires attentiveness to table status—monitoring clean, dirty, and occupied tables—and maintaining cleanliness and order in the host area and lobby. The Host/Hostess also manages guest waitlists with accurate wait time estimates and may support to-go order transfers when applicable. Interaction with customers continues both upon arrival and departure, emphasizing guest satisfaction and positive dining experiences. Maintaining restrooms and sweeping the entrance area are amongst the routine tasks to ensure the venue remains welcoming at all times. This position does not include supervisory duties but plays a critical role in the smooth operation and overall guest experience within each restaurant location.
Gulf Coast Restaurant Group is an equal opportunity employer that embraces diversity and inclusion, offering all employees a workplace free from discrimination and harassment. Employment opportunities, including hiring, promotion, and compensation, are provided without regard to protected characteristics as prescribed by federal, state, and local laws. Candidates seeking a rewarding entry-level opportunity in the hospitality sector will find the Host/Hostess role an ideal starting point to grow within the GCRG family and develop essential skills in customer service, communication, and restaurant operations.
