Job Description
Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a vibrant and dynamic restaurant brand rooted in the heart of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Founded by two LSU walk-on basketball players who transformed their passion and hard work into a successful dining experience, Walk-On's embodies the spirit of dedication, teamwork, and relentless pursuit of excellence. The brand has grown from a single location into a nationally recognized franchise known for its scratch-made dishes with a Louisiana flair and a fun, welcoming gameday atmosphere that attracts guests seeking both delicious food and an engaging social environment.
Walk-On's is more than just a restaurant – it is a community-centric establishment that treats every team member like family and values the unique contributions of everyone from the kitchen staff to front-of-house employees. Their culture is built on core values such as teamwork, hospitality, passion, growth, and community. These principles guide the daily operations and shape the guest experience, helping Walk-On's maintain its reputation for championship-level service. The company fosters an environment where employees can thrive, grow, and bring energy to every shift.
The Host/Hostess role at Walk-On's is a critical position that acts as the first point of contact for guests, setting the tone for their entire dining experience. Classified as a part-time and non-exempt position, hosts and hostesses at Walk-On's play a multifaceted role that blends hospitality, communication skills, and agility. Reporting to the Manager on Duty, the ideal candidate is a team player who is enthusiastic, punctual, and ready to contribute to a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
In this role, hosts and hostesses warmly welcome guests with a genuine smile and efficiently seat them, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable flow through the dining room. They are responsible for accurately taking orders, suggesting menu items, handling takeout orders, and supporting the entire team by running food, clearing tables, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the restaurant. The position requires a hands-on attitude with flexibility to assist coworkers and management whenever necessary, exemplifying the Walk-On's commitment to teamwork and superior service.
Adherence to all federal, state, and local laws, including those governing alcohol service, is a critical component of the role. Hosts and hostesses must maintain all required certifications and demonstrate the ability to operate POS systems, process payments accurately, and handle cash with care. The company provides training to ensure all team members meet its high standards for service and compliance.
This part-time position offers flexible scheduling, ideal for students or individuals balancing other commitments, and the opportunity to work during nights, weekends, and gameday events. Employees enjoy being part of a vibrant, energetic atmosphere that is never boring and are encouraged to grow within the Walk-On's family by taking advantage of advancement opportunities. This position is a chance to join a thriving team that believes in celebrating wins together, supporting each other through challenges, and delivering unforgettable experiences to every guest. Walk-On's fosters a culture that values energy, passion, and pride, making each shift more than just a job but a chance to be part of something truly special.
