In this role as a host or hostess, the individual becomes one of the first and most pivotal representatives of the Heirloom brand. The position involves being the welcoming face to guests, playing a critical role in setting the tone for their entire dining experience. This job requires exceptional communication skills, warmth, and attentiveness, ensuring that every guest feels valued from the moment they enter the restaurant. Responsibilities will include managing seating arrangements efficiently, handling special requests and inquiries, and ensuring smooth reservation management to optimize the restaurant’s flow.

Moreover, the position requires coordinating with multiple teams including serving staff and kitchen to maintain seamless communication and delivery of services. Hosts and hostesses also handle the waiting area environment, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and providing accurate wait time estimates along with alternative seating suggestions when necessary. Job Duties

  • Welcome guests with a warm and friendly demeanor as they enter the restaurant
  • provide a positive first impression and set the tone for the overall dining experience
  • assist guests with inquiries, provide information about the menu, specials, and restaurant policies
  • address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly
  • be attentive to the needs of guests, including any special requests or accommodations
  • handle seating for large parties and special events with care and efficiency
  • manage restaurant reservations, including confirming, modifying, or canceling bookings
  • maintain an organized reservation system and communicate reservation status to the serving staff
  • assess the dining room layout and manage efficient seating assignments to optimize table turnover
  • consider server sections and balance workload among the serving staff
  • keep the waiting area clean, organized, and visually appealing
  • provide waiting guests with accurate wait time estimates and, if necessary, offer alternatives such as seating at the bar
  • ensure that the host/hostess stand and surrounding areas are neat, organized, and well-maintained
  • pay attention to the overall cleanliness and appearance of the dining area
  • maintain effective communication with the kitchen, serving staff, and management to ensure smooth dining room operations
  • relay special requests, dietary restrictions, or other pertinent information to the serving team
  • collaborate with servers to coordinate the timing of reservations and walk-in guests
  • facilitate effective communication between the front and back of the house
