The role of AM - Dietary Server at Bethesda Senior Living Communities is a vital position responsible for overseeing meal service to residents, their families, and guests. This position involves managing and coordinating the dietary staff during the day shifts, including weekend rotations, to ensure an exceptional dining experience. The Dietary Server acts as a host or hostess, supporting designated community staff such as Care Partners and Medication Aides, ensuring excellent customer service, timely meal delivery, and professional presentation. Duties include ensuring the dining area is clean, well-prepared, and maintained throughout the shift with tables arranged in a restaurant-style setting.

The Dietary Server is essential in maintaining efficient communication with the Culinary Services Director, Health Services Director, Executive Director, and other community leaders to provide adequate staffing coverage and support the food service team effectively. This individual assists with training health services staff, emphasizing teamwork and adherence to food service policies and procedures. An important aspect of the role involves managing resident and guest feedback, delegating duties to health services team members, and overseeing the cleanliness and readiness of meal service areas, including drink stations and salad bars.

The position demands excellent interpersonal skills, compassion for the elderly, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively under sometimes stressful conditions. Job Duties

  • Ensure adequate daily coverage provided by health services staff for meal service
  • Assist Culinary Services Director with training health services staff
  • Attend staff meetings as required
  • Direct resident, family and guest feedback to community leadership
  • Ensure all server pre-service and post-service tasks are completed
  • Assign sections and tables to health services staff
  • Oversee cleaning and preparation of the dining room and tables
  • Reset tables, linens, and replenish condiments
  • Ensure drink stations and salad bars are properly set
  • Take meal orders and supervise health services staff to ensure excellent customer service
  • Keep residents' and guests' drinks filled as requested
  • Manage guest reservations and private dining room setup
  • Complete all cleaning checklists according to policy
  • Ensure room trays are set up and delivered
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents' personal information
  • Maintain professional appearance and positive customer service environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
