Job Description

Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a dynamic and exciting restaurant brand that began its journey in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Founded by two LSU walk-on basketball players who transformed their passion and perseverance into a thriving business, Walk-On's has grown from a single location to a nationally recognized sports bistro renowned for its scratch-made dishes with a unique Louisiana flair and an electrifying game-day atmosphere. This establishment is more than just a place to grab a meal; it is a celebration of heart, hustle, and the underdog spirit that resonates through every aspect of the restaurant experience. Walk-On's prides itself on fostering a culture where every team member, from the kitchen to the host stand, feels valued and empowered to contribute to creating memorable guest experiences.

The company operates as a sports bistro offering guests a lively environment to enjoy quality meals while surrounded by the excitement of game-day spirit. Walk-On's commitment to hospitality, teamwork, and passion forms the foundation of their consistent, high-level guest service and vibrant workplace culture. Being part of Walk-On's means embracing a winning mindset, one that values collaboration, energy, and pride in delivering an exceptional dining experience.

The available position for Host/Hostess at Walk-On's is a part-time, non-exempt role reporting directly to the Manager on Duty. This position is critical as it serves as the first point of contact for guests, setting the tone for their entire dining experience. The Host/Hostess embodies the Walk-On's spirit by greeting guests with warmth, managing seating efficiently, and supporting both front-house and back-house team members to maintain a smooth and enjoyable service flow.

This role is tailored for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, possess strong communication skills, and present themselves with a positive, team-focused attitude each shift. Responsibilities span from welcoming guests, handling seating arrangements, and taking accurate orders to running food, managing takeout services, and processing payments. Hosts/Hostesses ensure the dining areas are clean and inviting, assist in restaurant setup and breakdown, and actively support their teammates to maintain the championship-level customer service that Walk-On's is known for.

Flexibility is essential in this role, with availability required for nights, weekends, and gameday events. While previous restaurant experience is preferred, Walk-On's offers training to equip the right candidates with the skills they need to succeed. This position is ideal for individuals looking for part-time hours that can accommodate other commitments such as studies or another job.

Walk-On's upholds strict compliance with federal, state, and local laws concerning food, safety, and alcohol service, ensuring all staff maintain proper training and certifications. The company prides itself on being an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion, fostering a workplace where everyone can thrive.

Joining Walk-On's means joining a team built on camaraderie, hustle, and a passion for hospitality. The Host/Hostess position offers a unique opportunity to develop customer service skills, gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry, and grow within a company that values its people. If you're eager to be part of a vibrant, supportive environment where your contributions are recognized and where every shift brings something new and exciting, Walk-On’s is the place for you.
