Job Description
Monterey Peninsula Country Club is a distinguished private club with a rich heritage spanning nearly 100 years, serving a diverse membership of over 1,100 members. Located along the scenic Monterey Peninsula, the club boasts world-class golf courses and exceptional food and beverage services. With a team of more than 250 employees, Monterey Peninsula Country Club prides itself on a culture of professionalism, teamwork, mutual respect, and accountability that directly contributes to outstanding member satisfaction. A tight-knit community, the club offers a warm and welcoming environment where members are valued and employees are considered part of a family.
We are currently seeking an experienced restaurant host to join our food and beverage team. This role is ideal for a hospitality-driven individual with a dynamic attitude and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences. As a restaurant host at Monterey Peninsula Country Club, you will be the first point of contact for members and guests, tasked with creating a lasting positive impression through courteous greetings and effective seating arrangements. The position emphasizes personalized service, requiring you to use members' and guests' names when known and ensure seamless integration of walk-in guests into existing reservations without compromising service quality.
Your responsibilities will include managing the reservation system meticulously to keep bookings and table configurations updated, confirming reservations when necessary, and handling no-shows efficiently. You will also manage incoming telephone calls, assist with booking requests, and ensure messages are forwarded appropriately. A key component of the role is to communicate any service challenges promptly to management, ensuring concerns are addressed with the highest level of professionalism and attention to detail.
This position requires a minimum of one year of experience as a host in an upscale environment, with preference given to candidates with private club, resort, or hospitality backgrounds. Possession of a Food Handler Certificate and RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) certification is preferred; however, you may obtain these within 30 days of hire if not already certified. You must have valid documentation to work in the United States, a great attitude, and a commitment to providing outstanding hospitality. Flexibility, multitasking ability, accuracy, and a willingness to engage warmly with members and guests are essential traits for success in this role.
Monterey Peninsula Country Club offers an excellent benefits package that includes free healthcare for full-time employees, competitive pay tied to performance, opportunities for professional growth, and a unique work environment unaffected by seasonal tourism fluctuations. Our team members enjoy the rare privilege of working in a beautiful setting with world-class golf courses and being treated like family by our valued members. Join us for a fulfilling career where your efforts contribute directly to memorable dining experiences and lifelong member relationships.
