The host or hostess acts as the welcoming face of the dining area, responsible for greeting guests with warmth and professionalism and ensuring they receive prompt, courteous service from the moment they enter until they leave. Job Requirements
- Receive and seat guests
- Maintain order and cleanliness in dining area
- Address guest complaints
- Act as cashier
- Ability to smile and maintain eye contact with guests
- Greet guests entering dining room and escort them to tables
- Present menus and place in front of guests
- Answer telephone promptly and courteously
- Take dining room and room service orders accurately
- Inspect dining room and direct service personnel
- Take table reservations
- Knowledge of restaurant, menu, function space, guest rooms, outlets and services
- Present checks to guests promptly
- Use customer service standards consistently
- Handle special requests and anticipate needs
- Respond promptly to complaints
- Use guests’ names
- Ask for guest feedback
- Be knowledgeable about local area, hotel and services
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in hospitality or customer service preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and customer-focused attitude
- Basic knowledge of restaurant operations
- Ability to handle guest complaints professionally
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Knowledge of local area and hotel services is a plus
Job Duties
- Serve food and beverage items
- Clear tables and return equipment to respective areas
- Ensure service safety by transporting equipment properly
- Attend to spills and breakage immediately
- Assist guests in being seated
- Deliver meals in a friendly, thorough, accurate and efficient manner
- Complete daily setup work as required
- Maintain regular attendance as scheduled
- Receive and seat guests
