The function combines hospitality with multitasking skills, as you will warmly greet guests, manage waitlists, and assist in maintaining the restaurant's smooth operation. Your presence is critical during high-traffic times, where managing guest expectations and maintaining a pleasant demeanor can significantly enhance the overall dining experience. The use of technology such as the NoWait App is a key component of the role, helping to streamline the seating process and provide timely updates to guests.

The Host or Hostess must have excellent communication skills, a friendly approach, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Interpersonal skills are vital, as you will often engage in light conversation that contributes to the welcoming environment of the restaurant. Attention to detail is also necessary, particularly in inspecting tables for proper presentation and handling small food items like chips and salsa. Physical stamina is required to stand and walk for extended periods, and occasionally, lift or move items as needed. Although previous restaurant experience is not mandatory, it is preferred, and a positive attitude along with a commitment to hygiene and grooming is essential.

Job Requirements

  • Previous restaurant experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information to guests and other team members
  • Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits
  • Constant standing/walking
  • Occasional stooping/kneeling
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 40 pounds
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps
  • Frequent, continual, intermittent flexing or rotation of the wrist(s) and spine
  • Constant receiving detailed information through oral communication
  • Constant talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas using the spoken word
  • Constant clarity of vision at near and/or far distances

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Warmly greet all guests upon their arrival
  • Open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when possible
  • Inspect tables for proper presentation
  • When the restaurant is on a wait for tables, record the guests information in the NoWait App and provide the guest with an estimated wait time
  • Notify guests via the No Wait App when their table is ready
  • Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible
  • Make friendly conversation with guests as you walk them to their table
  • Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of the server’s name
  • Handle food: chips and salsa
  • Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
  • Attend all scheduled team member meetings
