Job Duties
- Welcome guests with a warm and friendly demeanor as they enter the restaurant
- provide a positive first impression and set the tone for the overall dining experience
- assist guests with inquiries, provide information about the menu, specials, and restaurant policies
- address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly
- be attentive to the needs of guests, including any special requests or accommodations
- handle seating for large parties and special events with care and efficiency
- manage restaurant reservations, including confirming, modifying, or canceling bookings
- maintain an organized reservation system and communicate reservation status to the serving staff
- assess the dining room layout and manage efficient seating assignments to optimize table turnover
- consider server sections and balance workload among the serving staff
- keep the waiting area clean, organized, and visually appealing
- provide waiting guests with accurate wait time estimates and, if necessary, offer alternatives such as seating at the bar
- ensure that the host/hostess stand and surrounding areas are neat, organized, and well-maintained
- pay attention to the overall cleanliness and appearance of the dining area
- maintain effective communication with the kitchen, serving staff, and management to ensure smooth dining room operations
- relay special requests, dietary restrictions, or other pertinent information to the serving team
- collaborate with servers to coordinate the timing of reservations and walk-in guests
- facilitate effective communication between the front and back of the house
