Job Duties

  • Welcome guests with a warm and friendly demeanor as they enter the restaurant
  • provide a positive first impression and set the tone for the overall dining experience
  • assist guests with inquiries, provide information about the menu, specials, and restaurant policies
  • address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly
  • be attentive to the needs of guests, including any special requests or accommodations
  • handle seating for large parties and special events with care and efficiency
  • manage restaurant reservations, including confirming, modifying, or canceling bookings
  • maintain an organized reservation system and communicate reservation status to the serving staff
  • assess the dining room layout and manage efficient seating assignments to optimize table turnover
  • consider server sections and balance workload among the serving staff
  • keep the waiting area clean, organized, and visually appealing
  • provide waiting guests with accurate wait time estimates and, if necessary, offer alternatives such as seating at the bar
  • ensure that the host/hostess stand and surrounding areas are neat, organized, and well-maintained
  • pay attention to the overall cleanliness and appearance of the dining area
  • maintain effective communication with the kitchen, serving staff, and management to ensure smooth dining room operations
  • relay special requests, dietary restrictions, or other pertinent information to the serving team
  • collaborate with servers to coordinate the timing of reservations and walk-in guests
  • facilitate effective communication between the front and back of the house
