The role of Host/Hostess is a foundational position within THE ONE GROUP, crucial to ensuring guests receive an exceptional first and last impression that aligns with the brand's high standards. The Host/Hostess serves as the welcoming face of the restaurant, responsible for managing guest flow through reservation scheduling and seating coordination, contributing significantly to the smooth operation of the front-of-house team. This position demands excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to guest service. The Host/Hostess will be the initial point of contact for guests using systems like OpenTable to organize reservations efficiently and meet special seating requests, all while maintaining a warm and professional demeanor. Additionally, this role involves collaborating closely with the Maître D and service team to ensure seamless seating rotations and timely communication about table availability and wait times.

Additional responsibilities include greeting guests with warmth, providing menus, introducing servers, answering reservation inquiries by phone, and supporting the team during peak times by assisting with bussing tables or running food. The Host/Hostess also plays a role in upholding health and sanitation regulations and consistently representing THE ONE GROUP’s elevated hospitality standards. Team members in this position are expected to maintain a professional appearance and adapt comfortably in environments that may require standing for long periods or lifting trays. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in hospitality or customer service preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • capacity to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight
  • willingness to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays
  • familiarity with reservation management systems such as OpenTable preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Outgoing and engaging personality with a passion for hospitality
  • strong multi-tasking and organizational skills in a fast-paced setting
  • ability to stand for long periods of time and lift trays when needed
  • experience with OpenTable or similar reservation systems preferred
  • ability to work nights weekends and holidays
  • previous host or hospitality experience in a high-volume restaurant preferred

Job Duties

  • Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival ensuring a positive first impression
  • manage OpenTable reservations and coordinate seating to optimize service flow
  • assist guests with special seating requests whenever possible
  • communicate table availability and wait times to guests in a professional manner
  • provide menus and introduce guests to their server upon seating
  • maintain a clean and organized host stand and menu area
  • answer incoming phone calls provide information and handle reservation inquiries
  • assist with concierge outreach and brand representation at off-site events
  • monitor the dining area update the Maitre D Lead Host on table status and help coordinate seating rotation
  • thank guests as they leave and invite them to return for another unforgettable experience
  • assist fellow team members with bussing tables running food or supporting service as needed
  • adhere to health and sanitation regulations and uphold THE ONE GROUPs high hospitality standards
  • always represent THE ONE GROUP professionally including maintaining an elevated appearance and being comfortable in heels if applicable
  • other duties as assigned by management
