Job Description

The LineUp at Wai Kai is a premier waterfront destination located in Ewa Beach, Hawai'i, known for providing exceptional food and beverage experiences with stunning views and a welcoming atmosphere. We pride ourselves on offering a high-quality dining environment where guests can enjoy delicious meals in a beautifully maintained setting. The LineUp at Wai Kai combines the best of Hawaiian hospitality with efficient and organized restaurant operations, making it a sought-after location for both locals and visitors alike who seek a memorable dining experience.

Currently, The LineUp at Wai Kai is seeking friendly, organized, and guest-focused Hosts and Hostesses to join our Food & Beverage team in a part-time, hourly capacity. This role is crucial as it represents the first welcome to our guests, setting the tone for the entire dining experience. The Host or Hostess will serve as the initial point of contact in our Food & Beverage outlets, greeting guests warmly, managing reservations, organizing seating flow, and coordinating front-of-house operations to ensure seamless service. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality who enjoy working with people and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

As a Host or Hostess at The LineUp at Wai Kai, you will play a vital role in shaping the guest's first impression. You will be responsible for greeting all guests with professionalism and warmth in alignment with Food & Beverage standards. Handling the seating process involves confirming reservations, plotting floor plans to optimize seating efficiency, and managing the reservation inventory. Additionally, you will answer guest inquiries about reservations, menus, operating hours, and general restaurant information, providing clear and friendly communication.

The role requires anticipating guest needs and responding promptly, even during busy service periods. You will need to maintain comprehensive knowledge of our reservation system, seating layouts, table and lounge numbers, sections, capacities, and menus to effectively manage front-of-house operations. Exercising sound judgment is essential, notably when identifying potentially intoxicated guests and escalating concerns as necessary to maintain a safe and pleasant environment.

Beyond guest interaction, your responsibilities will include maintaining cleanliness and organization of the host stand, seating areas, menus, and front-of-house equipment. You will perform opening and closing duties such as restocking essential items and preparing the host area for service. Supporting the restaurant team by helping keep tabletops and guest areas clean will be part of your daily tasks along with ensuring assigned stations are properly maintained.

Teamwork and communication are fundamental at The LineUp at Wai Kai. As a Host or Hostess, you will work cohesively with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to support a smooth service flow. Professional and clear communication with guests, management, and team members will be essential, and maintaining the confidentiality of guest information is a must. You may also be asked to perform additional duties to support the overall Food & Beverage operations.

The successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively. Remaining calm, focused, and professional during peak periods is vital. The ability to exercise sound judgment, work independently with minimal supervision, and support a team-oriented environment will be key to excelling in this role. Although preferred, prior host or hostess experience of at least six months and ServSafe certification are not required.

Physically, the role demands the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel for extended periods, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Willingness to work long hours as needed is important to meet the demands of this role, especially during peak and special service periods. If creating warm first impressions, maintaining organization, and supporting a seamless dining experience excites you, The LineUp at Wai Kai encourages you to apply and become part of our vibrant hospitality team.
