The company’s values emphasize loving and serving each other and guests, doing whatever it takes beyond just doing one’s best, prioritizing culture over strategy, and leaving things better than they were found. Employees at Ethos are encouraged to embody virtues such as being loving, disciplined, competitive, loyal, consistent, and persistent. This commitment fosters a family-like environment where team members genuinely care about their work and each other.
The Host or Hostess role at Ethos Hospitality is essential in creating unforgettable first impressions. This role demands a personable and energetic personality to accommodate guests’ needs, maintain a positive atmosphere, and contribute significantly to the overall customer experience. The Host or Hostess not only greets guests upon arrival but also manages waiting lists, provides menus, and answers initial questions about the menu, including specials and new items. They are responsible for seating guests efficiently, ensuring balanced table rotation among servers to optimize service quality and workflow.
Additionally, the Host or Hostess engages with guests during their visit to ensure satisfaction with the food and service, promptly addresses any complaints, and fosters a welcoming environment by adapting the lighting, music volume, and cleanliness of the front of house. This position may also involve managing to-go orders, answering phone calls, and taking reservations, thus requiring multitasking capabilities and a clear, professional communication style. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, ensuring active participation in maintaining the restaurant’s upkeep.
This position is suitable for individuals motivated by teamwork, customer service excellence, and who thrive in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be at least 16 years old, possess basic mathematical skills, and be able to demonstrate professionalism, communication skills, and the ability to work well with others. Being punctual, well-prepared, and attentive to the front of house atmosphere are critical components of success in this role.
