Job Description
Denny's is a renowned full-service restaurant chain recognized for its welcoming atmosphere and classic American diner cuisine. Established with the mission to provide all-day breakfast and a family-friendly dining experience, Denny's has become a staple in the restaurant industry, serving millions of guests annually across numerous locations. The brand prides itself on exceptional customer service, consistent food quality, and a comfortable environment that caters to a wide range of customers, including families, travelers, and local community members. As a well-established leader in the casual dining sector, Denny's continues to expand its reach while maintaining its commitment to hospitality and operational excellence.
The role of Host/Hostess at Denny's is a vital front-of-house position that plays a key role in shaping the guest experience from the moment they enter the restaurant. This position is responsible for warmly greeting guests, managing waitlists efficiently, and ensuring smooth seating arrangements to support the flow of service. As the first point of contact, the Host/Hostess creates a friendly and organized first impression, aligning with Denny's brand standards and customer service expectations. Reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager, General Manager, or Manager on Duty, the host position requires excellent communication skills, attentiveness, and the ability to handle the dynamic pace of a busy restaurant.
This job offers an hourly wage ranging from $16.30 to $26.30, reflecting variation depending on factors such as the specific restaurant brand, location, experience, education, and hours worked including potential overtime pay. The working environment includes the dining room, lobby, and entry areas, with exposure to a busy and sometimes noisy atmosphere featuring crowds and occasional cleaning chemicals. Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods, bending, stooping, and light lifting within specified weight ranges.
Overall, the Host/Hostess role at Denny's is ideal for individuals who enjoy interacting with people in a lively setting and who possess strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. The position also requires adaptability to changing guest flow and operational needs and offers opportunities to develop hospitality skills in a supportive and structured environment. Whether experienced or new to customer service, candidates who demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and enthusiasm will find this role rewarding and integral to the restaurant's success.
