Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months related hospitality experience preferred
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Basic data entry skills
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to assist patients with menu selections
  • Ability to communicate effectively with nursing and nutrition staff
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as delivering trays and moving supplies

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent preferred
  • 6 months related hospitality experience preferred such as waiting tables or receptionist at a restaurant
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic data entry skills preferred
  • Ability to speak, read and write English to the extent required by the position
  • Knowledge of a second language is helpful

Job Duties

  • Visits patients to introduce food service department programs and collect food preferences
  • Delivers and collects patient trays during meal service
  • Makes rounds on assigned floors to ensure patient satisfaction and identify meal service problems
  • Passes and collects patient satisfaction surveys
  • Reports meal service-related problems to the Patient Care Manager and Nutrition Office
  • Collects nutrition care order sheets from nursing units and delivers them to the Nutrition Office
  • Distributes and collects patient menus according to pre-printed lists and assists patients in menu completion
  • Communicates with nursing staff for early and late tray deliveries
  • Delivers nourishments and between-meal snacks as ordered
  • Cleans and maintains pantries, including refrigerators and cabinets
  • Checks and discards expired food
  • Maintains departmental policies, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
