The Restaurant Host position at Azul Hospitality plays a critical role in shaping the initial impression for guests as they enter the restaurant. This role involves greeting guests warmly, escorting them to their tables, presenting menus, and maintaining smooth communication with wait staff and other restaurant personnel to ensure an efficient, enjoyable dining experience. The host is often the first and last point of contact in the dining process, thus requiring strong interpersonal skills, attentiveness, and a welcoming demeanor. Additionally, the position encompasses various supportive duties such as refilling beverages, setting tables, cleaning dining and serving areas, expediting food orders, and maintaining condiments to company standards. Azul Hospitality values team effort, and hosts are expected to contribute flexibly during quieter periods to assist various operational needs.

Beyond guest interaction, the Restaurant Host also supports hotel-wide policies for safety, security, and quality. Physical demands for the role can be considerable: working indoors under moderate temperature control, with some exposure to extreme temperatures in kitchens and freezers for up to an hour, lifting objects weighing up to 45 lbs, and pushing or pulling carts weighing up to 250 lbs. The job requires physical stamina with the ability to stand and move efficiently for extended periods, and agility to maneuver in tight spaces and respond to multiple demands quickly.

Professional skills necessary for success include good communication, customer relations, organizational talents, and basic computer proficiency with knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS systems. Experience in food service and customer service is preferred, alongside a high school diploma or equivalent. The ability to resolve issues diplomatically and analytically is essential, as is a detail-oriented approach to work and appearance, aligned with Azul Hospitality grooming and uniform standards.

Attendance and punctuality are critical in this role due to the cyclical and fast-paced nature of hospitality services. Employees are expected to adhere closely to company policies regarding attendance, training participation, and workplace safety. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures (freezer and kitchen environments)
  • Ability to stand and move for up to four hours continuously
  • Capable of lifting up to 45 lbs and pushing/pulling carts up to 250 lbs
  • Excellent hearing, seeing, speaking, and communication abilities
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per company standards
  • Adhere to attendance and punctuality standards
  • Comply with company safety, security, and operational policies
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and physical tasks including bending, stooping, squatting, and stretching
  • Safe Server Alcohol and Food Handler certification preferred

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome all hotel guests and customers
  • Escort guests to their tables and present menus
  • Communicate with wait staff and other restaurant personnel to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Refill beverages, set tables, and clean eating and serving areas
  • Expedite food orders and assist with To-go food preparation
  • Maintain table condiments such as salt, pepper, sugar, napkins, ketchup, and mustard
  • Perform additional duties as directed by management
