Pomperaug Woods prides itself on fostering a culture of respect, dignity, and warmth, making it a preferred choice for families seeking high-quality senior care. The community’s commitment to hospitality ensures that every resident, employee, and guest is treated with respect and kindness, establishing a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

The part-time Host/Dining Room Supervisor role plays a pivotal part in upholding and promoting the community’s hospitality culture, specifically within the dining services. This position is responsible for supervising the overall operation, coordination, maintenance, and appearance of the dining room, including managing the wait staff station. The role requires working every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm and is designed to ensure that courteous, efficient, and high-quality dining services are delivered to the residents and guests.

As the Dining Room Supervisor, you will lead a team of dining room personnel across all shifts with responsibilities including staffing, scheduling, orientation, counseling, and performance evaluation. You will ensure that the dining room environment consistently meets Pomperaug Woods’ high standards by overseeing everything from table setup to cleanliness and ensuring systems for resident billing and reservation management are accurately maintained. Maintaining adherence to safety and health standards is also critical, along with promoting teamwork both within the dining department and in collaboration with other departments. This role combines a strong leadership component with hands-on involvement in daily dining operations, including supervising takeout orders and assisting with light food preparation such as salads, desserts, and bread slicing.

This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and have a heart for service within the elderly community. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor are essential. The Dining Room Supervisor will also contribute to staff education and training, compliance with regulatory standards, and continual improvement of dining service objectives and standards.
